Monday 21st July to Saturday 26th July Flanders Tour 2008 (Belgium ECO trip 2008). Details will be on the ECO site soon (http://www.houtpellets.biz/flanderstour/Eindex1.htm). The cost will be 185 euros. This price includes camping fees, breakfast and a 3 course evening meal. It will cost about an extra £100.00 to get there. (Bob S)

Tuesday 26th August. Pub Night at The Bridge Hotel, High Level Bridge. 8.00pm
Saturday 30th August to Friday 5th September. Durham Dales Cycle Ride. Fixed centre holiday close to the Northumberland National Park and on the edge the North Pennines, within easy reach of Newcastle , historic Durham with its Cathedral, Hadrian’s Wall and the Beamish Open Air Museum. It is also about 200 metres from the Coast to Coast Cycle route. Consett YMCA (http://www.ymca.derwentside.org.uk/facilities.html) will be our base. Bed, breakfast and evening meal is £20.00 per night per person. Secure bicycle parking is available. There is bar, gym and a lecture room on site. Kayaking, canoeing, river/gorge walking, cultural visits and bush craft are just a few of the activities that can be organised. At least 2 rides will be organised each day. One ride will be family friendly and the other will be for riders who are moderately fit. Just come for the day or stay a minimum of 2 nights. To reserve a place a £10.00 deposit will be required. IMPORTANT INFORMATION:



What you should have with you on a walk:

Clothing:
  • Comfortable clothing/layers.
  • Waterproof outer jacket with integral hood (preferrably breatheable).
  • Waterproof overtrousers.(preferrably breatheable).
  • Walking boots in good condition (trainers and "walking sandals" are unsuitable).
  • Walking Trousers (not jeans).
  • Thermal hat and waterproof gloves.
  • Fleece.
Equipment:
  • Backpack
  • Food and drink (hot drink in winter).
  • Chocolate or high energy food bars (emergency rations).
  • Survival bag.
  • Whistle
  • Torch.
  • Map.
  • First aid kit.
